Adhurst, situated within the South Downs National Park, is a 500 acre estate owned by the sixth generation of descendants of John Bonham-Carter. A mixture of arable farming, ancient woodland, wetlands and river it is a site of special scientific interest on the West Sussex/East Hampshire border. Adhurst comprises workshops, farmhouses and cottages – as well as privately run Adhurst Allotments and a conservation fly-fishing syndicate.
Adhurst Yurts are tucked within a hundred acres of ancient woodland above the banks of the River Rother, walking distance from two Sawday recommended pubs. Adhurst provide stylish, healthy and ecologically-conscious holidays for everyone from family groups to romantic couples to holidaying pets and nature enthusiasts. Privacy and space are assured. Honeymoons in Willow are very popular. We are highly recommended by The Telegraph and The Week (2014) and are entering our fifth year as a member of Sawday's Canopy and Stars collection; Adhurst are also featured in Sawday's Dog-Friendly Breaks in Britain guide book.

Rother Yurt Book
Rother is named after Adhurst's stretch of the River Rother and, like Birch, is 18' diameter. Rother has its own encampment, fire pit and safari kitchen. Your privy is shared with Willow. You also have use of the outdoor shower deck. Fully made up bedstead with two camp beds beneath the bedstead. Fully equipped kitchen with running water, two burner gas hob, tripod outdoor cooking system, private fire pit, storm kettle, all utensils, crockery, cutlery and cast iron cookware.
Willow Yurt Book
18' Yurt with 10' Bathing Yurt
Willow is our honeymoon yurt and is also perfect for couples with a baby. Willow is essentially two yurts in one - the en suite bath yurt has hot running water for the claw-foot bath tub. There is an Edwardian washstand which is filled from the bath. You have your own safari kitchen under enormous canopy with gas hob, fire pit, storm kettle, all cast iron cooking implements, crockery, cutlery etc. Willow has a private entrance from our other yurts. Like all our yurts Willow has a fully made up double iron bedstead with two camp beds underneath it - for which you will need sleeping bags. You have a wood-burner and a supply of chopped wood. Your covered safari kitchen is enormous with two burner gas hob, running water, cast iron cookware, a tripod cooking system for over your fire pit, all utensils, crockery, cutlery and a storm kettle.

Birch Yurt Book
Birch yurt is 18' diameter and is fully felt-lined for extra cosiness. The wood burner is a Godin cylindrical wood burner that can be loaded from the top or the bottom. It can easily be kept going through the night if you adjust the airflow for a slow burn. Your kitchen is shared with Chestnut so this is an ideal yurt to book with Chestnut for smaller groups. But you can also be private in Birch and you're far enough away. Birch has a double bedstead fully made up, spare blankets, two camp beds under the bedstead and an initial trug of chopped firewood. You have access to the outdoor shower and shared use of the privy with Chestnut. The kitchen is fully equipped with running water, double gas hob, all utensils, cutlery, crockery, cast iron cookware, Dutch oven, BBQ, storm kettle - and of course the fire pit.
Chestnut Yurt Book
Chestnut is our smallest but can at a stretch sleep two additional children. We advise three total though. Wood burner, fully made up bedstead, a camp bed underneath, spare blankets and initial supply of chopped firewood. Chestnut shares a large encampment with Birch but they are far enough apart to also be considered very separate. The two yurts share the kitchen area, privy and out door shower. The kitchen area haws running water, two burner gas hob, bbq, Dutch oven, cast iron cookware, all utensils, crockery, cutlery - and a storm kettle.
Whole Site Booking Standard Book

Included in this booking are Willow, Rother, Birch and Chestnut - and everything which comes with those four yurts (two privies, shower, bath, three safari kitchens, three fire pits and the children's zip wire. If you would like to add two bell tents both Nuthatch (sleeping family of four with double bed) and The Mushroom (sleeping 3 or 4 singles) can be added as an Extra. You can also book Coppicer's to increase the size of your booking. Please be advised though that the bell tents are really only available in July and August. It's always best to phone first when making a whole site booking. There is an option for various activities if booked well in advance - such as bushcraft and hog roast.

Coppicer's is our most recent addition at Adhurst and is not a yurt. It is a hand-built wooden cabin with a canvas roof and a kitchen on its verandah. It is quite private, with its own encampment and its own privy and woodland heated shower. It is the only space at Adhurst Yurts with hot running water in the kitchen sink. There is a bonfire area and also a tripod cooking system, in addition to the two-burner gas hob. It has a cylindrical french wood-burner that is very easy to light which can also take larger wood so it can be kept going through the night. There is a platform area above the double bed which is reached by climbing an actual tree instead of a ladder. There are two single futons up here and guests sleeping on the deck must bring sleeping bags. It's very much like sleeping in a tent on the upper deck because it's right under the canvas roof. We got the idea for Coppicer's from our own coppicer, Fred. Fred constructs a covered site protected from sun/rain for creating fence posts from the sweet chestnut coppicing at Adhurst. He moves his encampment from season to season depending which part of the coppiced woodland is due for management. We've zazzed it all up a notch though - as Fred doesn't get a shower or a privy ... or a comfy bed! And as all our yurts, Coppicer's ensures you will have privacy and space to yourself.

Adhurst Yurts only handle bookings from persons over 18 years of age. We reserve the right, at all times - without statement of reasons - to refuse a booking. Adhurst Yurts will confirm the booking via e-mail and you will receive a Payment Request within 24 hours. By making a booking you agree that you have read these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them.
The Adhurst Yurts online booking system enables guests to make bookings 24 hours a day. A booking is confirmed on receipt of full payment or a 25% non-refundable deposit. Your booking will be confirmed and a contract between you and Adhurst Yurts will exist once we both receive payment of the deposit and also send you a booking confirmation. Where a deposit has been paid, full balance payment will be due 10 weeks in advance of your check-in date and a reminder will be sent to you two weeks prior to this date by email. We automatically take the balance payment using the same card as used to make the deposit payment. Pricing and Information
Adhurst Yurts reserve the right to amend advertised prices at any time. We also reserve the right to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices. Information on our website or the Canopy and Stars website might have changed by the time you come to make your booking. Generally any changes are in fact improvements. Although we make every possible effort to ensure all information is up to date occasionally errors can occur.
It is the responsibility of the pet owner to request permission to bring a pet to Adhurst. Each request is dealt with individually and so far none have been denied. However if we believe other guests on the same dates will be adversely affected by your pet we might not allow it to come. All pets must be kept on a lead when in the area of sheep or horses.
Whole Site Booking
In the instance of large bookings we ensure these are classified as Whole Site Bookings so as not disturb another guest's holiday. A Whole-Site booking consists of four yurts, to which can be added Coppicer's Glade and the Nuthatches (bell tents). A Whole-Site booking can not be reduced in size at any stage but capacity can be increased. Additional adults are charged at £25 per night. Each yurt includes two adults in the Whole Site price. A Whole Site booking is a booking for the overnight guests in those spaces (such as a family gathering) and is not the appropriate booking for a wedding or event. Events involving outside guests are priced differently and are catered by Adhurst.
If you are booking an event involving all the yurts and cabin AND outside guests you will need to ensure this is clear before booking. Rates vary and will need to factor in catering by Adhurst, parking arrangements, sanitation arrangements, any temporary marquee-type structures, rubbish clearance and flowers and electricity rental and lighting. Our events are always low-key and kind to the habitat. We do not permit outside contractors except in special circumstances and at our discretion.
It is not permitted to bring tents to Adhurst under any circumstances. If additional accommodation is needed for a Whole Site Booking we have Nuthatch 1 and Nuthatch 2 available. They are bell tents.
Please do not smoke cigarettes in our yurts!
Only after pre-arrangement with the owners can we accept day visitors to a yurt. The number is limited to two. The visiting car must remain in the car park at the Adhurst Farm entrance, assuming there is space for it. We do not allow outside visitors at all in the evenings. This is done to ensure that guests enjoy the site at its proper capacity. Day guests must never drive onto the yurt site.
Fishing is not permitted at Adhurst except by license. A day license is available at £30 and is only granted for fly-fishing. Fishing is limited to preserve the river’s stock of wild trout. Please see our Wild Fly Fishing Syndicate information. Fishing Methods
Fishing shall be catch and release, by fly only, fished upstream, with dry flies and nymphs permitted, maximum size 10 standard barbless hook.
Lures are not permitted. Wading is allowed at Members risk. All fish must be returned to the river unharmed, the Syndicate is strictly catch and release.
Force Majeure on the side of Adhurst Yurts exists if the implementation of the agreement is entirely or partially, temporarily or permanently, prevented due to circumstances which are beyond the control of Adhurst Yurts, including threat of war, strikes, blockades, fire, floods and other disruptions or events. It is always advisable to have your own Holiday Insurance.
Assumption of Risks
Remember that you will be camping in the outdoors with live animals and other natural hazards, such as rabbit holes. The wood burner will get hot and if touched could burn. Whilst we take great care to keep guests safe accidents can happen and Adhurst Yurts are not responsible for such accidents (to the greatest extent permitted by law). It is your responsibility to supervise any children. If you notice that any equipment looks faulty and/or unsafe you must inform us as soon as possible.
We advise anyone to take out travel insurance against the risk of accidents and/or your stay being cut short.
Payment in full within 10 weeks of arrival. We process the remaining balance automatically if we have your card details on file.
25% deposit can be arranged if it is over 10 weeks before arrival date. The deposit is non-refundable.
It is advisable to take out holiday insurance in the event of having to cancel a booking.
