Culloden House is a family owned bed and breakfast in Westward Ho!, 2 miles from Bideford on the North Devon coast. This grand Victorian Mansion built in 1865 is full of warmth and character and offers guests a welcoming stay in relaxed surroundings. The Premier Double Rooms have fantastic views across the Bay. We are conveniently located with a short walk to a good selection of local shops and restaurants. The South West Coastal Path and beach is five minutes walk away and the Royal North Devon Golf Course only 5 minutes by car.

Terms & Conditions

Arrival for booking in is between 4 and 6 pm. Please advise of any expected late arrival time.
Last Arrival Check-In time is 10 pm.
An earlier arrival for a special event please contact us to arrange and agree at time of booking.

On day of departure vacating of room is by 10am.

Should it be necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, the proprietor reserves the right to cancel a booking at any time; compensation liability will only extend to refund of any deposit made to Culloden House.

Occupancy of rooms must not exceed the number of people agreed at time of booking and includes all children of any age.
Children under the age of 16 years are not allowed to be left alone on the premises under any circumstances.

In the interests of security and fire regulations, we must insist that you do not bring non-paying family, friends or colleagues into the premises without obtaining our prior consent.

Culloden House is a Non-Smoking residence including electronic vapour products which should not be charged in the rooms; any indication of breaking of this requirement in public areas or bedrooms could result in a guest being asked to leave and a charge being made for any smoke damage.

Fully cooked breakfast is served from 7.45 to 9 am. Guests are not allowed to remove food from the breakfast room to eat in the bedrooms. Take Aways are not permitted to be eaten in the bedrooms; however upon request we are able to offer a table in the dinning room.

Wifi is available in the Reception Area and Dinning Room. Due to the thickness of the walls it is not always possible for guests to achieve Wifi access in their rooms.

All personal belongings left on the premises are at the owner’s risk. Any personal belongings left behind in rooms by guests will not returned unless requested; a minimum charge of £10 for administration and postage is payable in advance. Heavier items will be charged at the standard postage rates.

Cars parked on the main road adjacent to the residence are at the owner’s risk.

In the event of room key loss there will be a charge of £140 to cover costs of replacement.

Any damages including carpets, fixtures and fittings in the rooms or in public areas will be charged at replacement cost and notified to guests.

We do not accommodate dogs and other pets.

Disability Access Statement

Culloden House is a 19C Victorian House on Fosketh Hill which is fairly steep; there is car parking adjacent to the house on a public road, drop off at the front door is possible if no parking space is available. There is a front porch step; a ramp is available to enter the house.

Bedrooms are laid out over 3 floors. Access to bedrooms above the ground floor is via the main staircase and the 2nd floor via steep staircase which for those with disability may find difficult as we have no lift due to the structure of the building; floors above ground level would not be suitable for wheelchair access. We are always ready to help with luggage to guests rooms.

We are happy to help in any way we possibly can and answer any questions or queries you may have.

Payment Policy

A deposit £50 secures your reservation for each room booked and is taken from the card details provided.

The balance is taken from the card details given at time of booking as follows;
1 night booking night of arrival
2+ nights booking night before
departure
For a balance of £30 or less we ask that you please pay in cash so we do not have to request you pay extra card charges.

Cancellation Policy

Cancelation of booked nights up to 48 hours prior to arrival, deposit refunded.

Cancellation less than 48 hours prior to arrival, deposit non-refundable.

Any cancellation of booked nights after arrival will be charged at the booked rate.

No shows full cost of booked nights accommodation will be taken from the card details given at time of reservation.

We would advise taking out a suitable travel/holiday insurance to cover for unforeseeable circumstances.
