Gwydir Street House has twice been a home for two young families over the past 25 years. The owner of this house is Italian and you will notice the modern designs or the homemade aspects of the house being influenced by him. One of the rooms is named after his son. The other family to have lived here have South African, Swiss, Scottish, English and Chinese backgrounds and for years dreamt this is how they would like to live and so renovated the house accordingly along with their Italian friend ... but they never got the chance to live in it! An Italian artist friend who lives across the road printed many of the art works that you see in each room.
The house has been well insulated for the damp British winters and well ventilated with sash windows for city living in the summer. The house is controlled to a constant temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius depending on the season. The garden has been planted with herbs and edible plants for guests who like cooking. There is free wi-fi and a widescreen TV plus a valve designed sound system. In the bathroom there is both a traditional overhead and handheld shower option along with a bathtub and a bidet. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine/dryer for those staying longer. The beds were bought with variety and comfort in mind. In three rooms we have single beds or a double bed, a King's size bed and a fold-out bed (with an extra thick mattress on springs) in the living room. You will feel a contrast between the traditional, the modern, the Italian, the English, the antique and the contemporary designs all brought together to provide comfort and a sense of being in a cosy city home.
Gwydir Street is a very popular place for families and visitors to stay in the city. It is off of Mill Road and has numerous cafes/delis/world food shops and restaurants all within walking distance. The railway station is a 10 minute walk down two roads. Public Parking is available too.
We like to welcome guests as though they might be friends coming over to stay so if you have any questions about the house, the area or the city, we'll do our best to answer them.
