A magnificent Family run country house in Borrowdale set in 4 acres of Britain's most beautiful countryside. Elevated above the hamlet of Rosthwaite, with commanding views of surrounding fells (Including Scafell Pike and Great Gable).
Built around 1840 it had Sir Hugh Walpole as a guest who used it as a fictional home for "Rogue Herries", and birth place of "Judith Paris". A classic country house with private woodland, bridges and beck side walk. Awarded Good Hotel Guides Top 10 UK hotels,Cumbria Tourisms Guest accomodation of the year. 2 AA rosette for dining.

•All the rates are per room per night with Breakfast included
•All baths have a shower over the bath(except "Castle Crag" ground floor room with walk-in Shower)
•No Pets allowed.
•Sorry no children under the age of 15.
•Check in is from 3.00pmPat the earliest. Check out before 10.30am.Due to COVID procedures we can`t allow early check-ins.
•Please book dinner in ADVANCE of arrival as we only cater for pre booked dinner.
•Please notify us of any allergies ,as dinner is a SET 4 course meal .

Payment Policy

A £100 non- refundable or transferrable per room deposit will be taken from the card details provided, a confirmation email will follow to confirm the booking. Final balance must be paid on departure to include accommodation, dining, drinks and any other purchases made in the hotel.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation more than 4 weeks prior to arrival: Loss of deposit.

2 and 5 weeks prior to arrival: 50% loss of stay.
2 weeks prior to arrival, no show and early departure: 100% loss of cost of stay.

NB: Deposits taken are non refundable and non transferable

No cancellation fee, apart from the loss of the deposit (£100) . We recommend that you take out a cancellation insurance.
