Law Family Canyon Madness Ranch
--- where extreme is our passion
For those who live under the constancy of relentless work, disputes, chaotic relationships and other assorted dramas, the need for some kind of decompression is all but obvious. The serene beauty of Canyon Madness Ranch’s spectacular wilderness mixed with the pleasures of life’s extreme activities offers the precisely needed therapy for mind and body.
Embodied in a 14,000 acres ranch in northeastern New Mexico along the Canadian River canyon, this unique and luxurious vacation ranch offers an unprecedented package of extreme comfort and extreme activities in weeklong durations only for sixteen guests at a time. Designed to pamper those who needs both luxury and excitement in life, Canyon Madness Ranch (CMR) offers our guests a vacation that goes way beyond any traditional dude ranch.
CMR is a truly adult playground that is spectacularly beautiful and peaceful. Far from the turmoil of modern living especially in bigger cities, this lifestyle of nature’s best combined with some of the most adventuresome sporting activities all in one location will be truly a once in a lifetime experience. The CMR guest house, named the Tee Pee Lodge, is a brand new and modern facility built along the top of the Canadian River Canyon with its two balconies cantilevered over the edge. It boasts eight well-appointed contemporary suites, each including a living room and private bathroom and all faces the incomparable river canyon view. All common areas are large, user friendly and face the majestic canyon as well. CMR also encompasses the landmark Encierro Canyon, a box-canyon of unspeakable wonder that boasts a sea of red clay interrupted by a myriad of giant twenty-feet deep crevices. Guests will feel overwhelmed by this landscape of “National Geographic” beauty and be spoiled by activities that are breathlessly exciting yet supported by certified or professionally trained guides and instructors.
The two pillars of CMR’s touted extreme activities are our non-traditional firearms range and horse-riding activities that offer our vacationing guests entertainment of unprecedented scope and excitement. Our gun ranges have everything you may want from novice to expert including a pistol range, a rifle range providing a wide range of weaponry (including especially AR-15s), long-range shooting (including scoped rifles and even 50 Cal shots to a maximum range of 1.4 miles), a championship Sporting Clay course, a Trap course, and finally, a “History of Firearms” excursion where guests of all abilities can experience the firing of weapons from flintlocks to percussions, to civil war weapons, to Winchester rifles, to 1st and 2nd World War weapons and ending with some modern armaments. CMR’s unusual horse and equestrian activities start with the trail rides of unparalleled beauty around canyon edges, by the river and also excursions to old nineteenth century Indian and homestead sites. For more experienced riders, our guides and instructors can offer reining, cutting, barrel racing, cow herding, and even English-riding to include some dressage, jumping and eventing. The ranch also boasts a large covered arena that permits focused training and lessons and allows riding even when the weather is not cooperative.
Other activities available for guests include ATV/UTV rides and rock crawling, spectacular hiking, river activities including kayaking and fishing (seasonal), hunting (seasonal), and a plethora of games at the Tee Pee Lodge. Of course, resting lazily at the lodge to eat, drink and read while overlooking the gorgeous Canadian River Canyon is always an option. The CMR lodge kitchen endeavors to serve food that is uncommon in traditional high-end restaurants in town: focusing on healthy, organic and more exotic meats, spices and tastes, but can accommodate most dietary restrictions if notified in advance at time of booking. A culinary experience of the most unusual kind will accompany this most unusual of environments for our guests to savor.
The Canyon Madness Ranch experience is for those that yearn for the best of scenic beauty mixed with the best of adventurous activities. Escape from the hectic nature of your daily lives, and join us in both the quietude and excitement of a world that reminds you of a time more than a hundred years ago, but still allows you to experience twenty-first century comfort. Feel the primitive while immersed in present-day luxury and contemplate the live-style of those that migrated from East to the West along these lands during the nineteenth century. Finding yourself in the primitive beauty of these canyon lands, it is easy to imagine that suddenly you can be challenged by a band of Apache Indians on horseback --- what an eerie feeling for someone living in the twenty-first century.
Few land-based vacation destinations can offer both serenity and excitement in a setting of breathless scenic beauty and modern-day luxury. Canyon Madness Ranch is one of those rare places on earth. Join us and you will be forever transformed!
