The Kings Arms Hotel in Temple Sowerby has a four hundred year history as a coaching inn, providing hospitality both to travellers on the old turnpike road and to early tourists – William Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge chose the Kings Arms as a starting point for their exploration of the Lake District in 1799. In those days Temple Sowerby was known as “The Queen of Westmorland Villages”.

The Kings Arms offers bed and breakfast or half board accommodation in comfortable, en-suite rooms. There is a bright and airy residents lounge reserved for guests staying in the Kings Arms, where you can read in front of the fire, play a board game or just put your feet up.

The Kings Arms is the perfect place to get away from it all over the Christmas period; a cosy, former coachhouse in beautiful rural surroundings, close to the picturesque North Lakes and many beautiful villages in the Eden Valley. Enjoy a two night bed & breakfast stay for two people over either Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, or Christmas Day and Boxing Day, for just £290, or stay for all three nights for just £390. Price includes a delicious, home cooked Christmas Dinner, but other meals are entirely at your discretion. Single rooms are also available, please enquire for a price. In the event of a cancellation the deposit is non-refundable, but may be used as a deposit against a future booking. Please contact us as soon as you know you are unable to make the journey and we can discuss how to handle each case.
