Situated within Retford's renowned 18th Century Coaching Inn, The Herbalist Rooms are in the characterful Grade II listed building above the cobblestone coachyard, now a beautiful Mediterranean styled courtyard garden and home to The Herbalist Bar & Restaurant to one side, and Dante's Italian restaurant to the other. There is also a salon located on site and many lovely breakfast spots out on the Market Square, which you can access through the nostalgic archways. The bar offers cocktails, mocktails and coffee which can be enjoyed in the bar lounge area or alfresco in the courtyard, whilst the restaurants serve authentic Italian food and afternoon tea. All are open from 12pm noon till late, Wednesday to Sunday. Directly in the heart of Retford, there is no car parking at the venue, however there is a pay and display car park just a minute's walk away. The property retains many of its original features, from the old coach bell to the horse mounting block and the famous wall statue, built in memory of the little girl who was sadly killed by a carriage in a coaching accident. The period style accommodation (once Madam Yaks bordello) is simple, clean, cosy and comfortable, and the perfect destination for flying visits as well as longer stays. The 18 rooms are spread across two floors and three wings. One wing is home to en-suite rooms, and the other wings are shared contractor accommodation, though they are popular with couples and families too, with one shared bathroom per two rooms. All en-suite rooms feature super comfy double beds, shower bathrooms and toiletries, fresh towels, desks, flat screen smart TVs, access to high-speed wifi and tea/coffee making facilities.
